LUNCH

I met up with my friend Trine for lunch at Paludan Bogcafé. Even though it was hot, we decided to go for two bowls of tomato soup and cheese for dessert. My calendar is completely filled with work related notes, but it is always nice to be able to squeeze in a friend.

A note on the café: I love the idea of a bookshop and café in one place. So it is no shock that I spend a lot of time in the café all year around reading and catching up with friends. Not only is it bookshop and a lovely café with great lattes, and soon they can add gallery to their name! They are currently making room for a gallery as well.

SUMMER NOTES

My calendar is completely booked and completely doodled - I am afraid I might miss my many coffee dates or work because of the many doodles filling the pages. Anyway, the entries are not frequent, but since summer has graced us with its face here in Denmark, I thought I would share some of my summer notes with you.

The home of carpet designer, Malene Barnett by The Selby.

1. It is very healthy to keep your alarm clock in the shadows during summer. Get used to go bed early so that your body can get the 8-9 hours of sleep it needs and let it wake up with the sun. This can be the start of a good day - to feel rested and ready to embrace the day. And to feel rested is to feel healthy.

2. Even though the title says, 'Hello Sadness', this little novella by Francoise Sagan is a perfect read during summer. The novella is about a girl, Cécile, who is leading a jaded life with her father, but one change to their frivolous life makes Cecile think differently, and it has consequences. She seeks comfort in the sea and in the sun, and it is written beautifully. And a little side note, the author wrote this when she was 18!

3. A cd that rests by my laptop is "Fall Down" by CallmeKat. Katrine Ottosen - the lady behind the tunes - has a playful voice, which is conveyed in her cover of Britney's hit "Toxic". Her music is electric, original and alluring. A perfect blend, if you ask me!

4. Go for a run now and then! We all know little about the many things you can avoid by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

BUSY BEE IN A BLUR

This week has been a blur. So many things have happened this week, good and bad, but all in a blur. I have been catching up with friends, had my final oral examination of my second semester at uni, worked and helped adding the final touches to my parents and uncle's restaurant, worked, started a new volunteer job, bought pretty striped and dotted blouses etc. Those were the pros. Now to the cons... everything has happened so fast, I forgot to bask, it is almost as if I have an indistinct memory of this week and the week has not even come to an end, yet! lol.

DRIVES ALL THE GIRLS CRAZY

As mentioned, I love reading stories about her. I just read about Yasmin Sewell. She is known for her signature hair-cut "that drives all the girls crazy." Count me as one of those girls! My hair has grown out, the tips are death, and not even my Paul Mitchell tea tree shampoo can work wonders on it anymore. I have this tradition, that by the end of June I fix my bangs, cut my hair to shoulder length, but I am considering just fixing my bangs and tips - perhaps colour the tips a vibrant colour in contrast to my dark brown hair. Or I can say au revoir to my tradition and get a Yasmin cut, no?

And look out for my Her Story section.

HER STORY

I love history, and I love stories about her. Urban Outfitters has a feature on their blog called, About a Girl, and look forward to a similar feature on my blog called, Her Story. Every now and then you will be able to read about different girls from different corners of the world.

ZOOEY

Beautiful Zooey Deschanel on glamour, researching vintage finds, and patent-leather shoes.

1) I love getting dressed up and shopping, but I don't follow trends. My style fluctuates: it's whimsical and feminine. When I was little, I was a really girly girl who didn't like to wear trousers. I just wore party dresses all the time with patent-leather shoes.

2) At school the kids wore hippy dresses from thrift stores, and people made their own clothes. I've always enjoyed wearing old-fashioned clothes. I try to do a bit of research before I travel so I know where to uncover vintage finds.

3) Know what suits you. Now I understand proportion and recognise the shapes that look good on my figure. I try to stick to classic pieces. I don't go to a lot of fashion shows or pay attention to what other people are wearing.

4) The red-carpet thing of premieres and parties is probably my least favourite part of my job. I do this because I love to act. All that other stuff may be glamorous, but glamour, by definition, is all just a circus.

5) You don't have to wear expensive clothes to look good. Growing up in Hollywood meant there were a lot of film stars' kids at my school – but no conspicuous wealth. It wasn't cool to show off that you had money.

WHIRLWIND

Moi in a whirlwind, but things are calming down.

I have no real plans for summer, and I would like for it to stay that way. However, one thing is certain... many coffee dates with my lovelies. I am thinking of making a coffee notebook, I might just share it with you.

What about you?

WISHFUL WISHLIST.

I am in love with Alexis Bledel's look from top to bottom! She wore a beautifully crafted Phillip Lim dress and amazing Loeffler Randall sandals at the Independent Filmmaker Project Spring Gala and she looks so, so pretty.

TAMILA PURVIS.

I love jewellery. I think my jewellery posts speak for themselves. I must honestly admit, that I have never been one to wear jewellery. Just a year ago, my mother took me and my sisters into a jewellery shop in Turkey and I just wasn't interested. I ended up buying a really simple gold ring - the cheapest in the store. However, my heart for jewellery is, as of now, a rapid growing plant.

I just stumbled upon pieces by jewellery designer Tamila Purvis (via garance doré). Not only are they statement jewellery, they come with stories.

The words that inspired this beautiful and intriguing collection.

LESS IS MORE PT. II

I am in love with the French label, American Vintage.

So simple, light, silky, soft, comfortable and timeless. The colour palette they have made use of is uplifting. Perfect for the summer! These pictures are from their summer/spring '10 lookbook, which you can find here.

LESS IS MORE.

I am trying to adopt the 'less is more' philosophy, which these beautiful French ladies seems to be leaning on. Elegance radiates from their styles.

BLACK DRESS.

I am drained and wishful. And the wishfulness is messing with my head... though, it would be nice to wake up tomorrow morning to see this dress hanging in my closet. ;)

Je l'aime.
